Alnmouth / Warkworth Loop

This route links two of Northumberland's loveliest villages. Alnmouth, with it's single main street leading to the mouth of the River Aln, and larger Warkworth which sits on the River Coquet with it's ancient gateway and bridge, fine village centre and towering castle. The route is 50% quiet lanes, and 50% cycle path off the road, and is particular suitable for novice riders. Distance - 10.5 miles (can be halved). Suitable for all bike types.

Black Grouse - Route 1

Part of the Bellingham & North Tyne Circular Cycle Routes set. Starting in Bellingham, the capital of the North Tyne, the route follows quiet country lanes taking the rider over Sundaysight which offers tremendous open vistas of the wild and rugged landscape of this area of England, and a feeling of real isolation before dropping down to the pretty village of Greenhaugh and then following the tranquil valley of the river North Tyne back to Bellingham.

Buzzard - Route 2

Craster South Loop - Route 1

A mixture of in-land and coast, off-road / on-rad riding with options for a large loop or two smaller ones. Highlights - Howick Hall (home of Earl Grey tea!), superb picnic spots in sheltered bays and coves, attractive fishing village of Craster famous for it's kippers. Distance - up to 10 miles (can be halved). Mountain bike / hybrid preferred type of bike.

Curlew - Route 3

Hadrians Cycleway (NCN 72)

Fast becoming the second most popular long distance cycle route in the country. A classic coast to coast route which can be added to the C2C, PCW 68, HCW to make bigger longer rides.

This cycling route is a contrast between coastal splendour and quiet the quiet rural hinterland. Starting and finishing at Warkworth Castle & utilising part of The Coast & Castles cycle route, this is a particularly varied route with quiet lanes and by-ways. Highlights - long sandy beach, superb views, Warkworth Castle Distance - 12 miles Mountain bike / hybrid preferred type of bike.
