The Red Lion is an old coaching inn dating back to the 1190’s that’s been brought back into the 21st Century with all the charm of a country-side Bed & Breakfast. We are on The Sandstone Way and Hadrians Cycleway (NCN) with Hexham only around 6 miles (10km) away!
The Red Lion comprises of 6 en-suite bedrooms, a bar, restaurant and snug area with gift shop as well. The exposed brickwork and wooden bar, coupled with the log fire, gives this place real warmth and character.

A spacious area to drink, with its original wood and stone work, open log fires and comfortable chairs, our bar has locally sourced ales and our wine comes from all over the world. There is also a seating area outside the front of the pub where you can enjoy a drink and the surrounding countryside watching the world go by as you plan your next adventure in Northumberland.
Our restaurant serves seasonal, home-cooked dished, locally sourced wherever possible. The bar stocks an excellent selection of local ales, plus an extensive range of wines, spirits and soft drinks. The inn is a real gem of a country-side pub and the perfect place to have a stop-off along the Stanegate Road as you enter the gateway to the Northumberland National Park including all its tourist sites, walking and cycle routes.
