Calico Barn is a converted barn at Hemscott Hill Farm, a mere 2 minute walk from an amazing 7 mile stretch of beach at Druridge Bay and only 1 mile north of Cresswell. Situated near to The Coast & Castles (NCN 1) cycle route, Calico Barn offers B&B accommodation and sleeps 18 people in a mix of twin, family and bunk rooms. In the summer months there are always free refreshments available for passing cyclists, and you are most welcome to use our facilities if you are passing.
Designed as a home from home with cyclists in mind it has a large cosy living area with TV/DVD and a wood
burning stove . A dining area and fully equipped kitchen mean you knock up a meal and eat inside, or make use of the garden available for guests. We even have firepits and barbeques available should you with to sit around a fire or take a BBQ to the beach.
All of our rooms have bunkbeds, but not your average ones. They are built in cabin beds with super comfy
mattresses and lovely bedding ready made up for your arrival. Each cabin has a reading light, double socket and USB charger so cyclists don't need to carry additional plugs. There is free wifi throughout.
There are twin rooms, quad family rooms and a 6 bed bunk room for those who want to share. Rooms share 3
spacious and clean wet rooms.
A basic breakfast is included and tea, coffee & milk provided but we have breakfast packs of locally sourced
sausages, bacon, black/white pudding, eggs and beans available for you to order ready to cook yourself in the
morning.
We also offer basic home made meals to weary walkers and cyclists.
A secure bike lock up with racks, key code and CCTV is next to the Calico Barn and we have bike wash facilities, a tinkering area (we're a farm, we can always help with a spanner!). And if you arrive soaking wet, don't worry we have a drying room available too and can even do your washing!
Calico Barn is also popular with groups and families who book out the space for gatherings and have exclusive
use.
Our prices are:
Single bed in a 6 bed bunk room) - £25 per person
Twin room - £50 per room
Quad/family room - £100 per room
We know you might be arriving late, don't worry we will give you the codes to get in so you don't have to worry
about timing.
In the summer months there are always free refreshments available for passing cyclists, and you are most
welcome to use our facilities if you are passing. If you are part of a cycling or walking group and coming past at
other times of the year just let us know in advance and we will open the barn and put on refreshments when there is someone available to open up.
