Established in 1994, we at Bicycle Repair Man have a long and proud history of supplying and repairing bicycles in the North East of England. From our humble beginnings in a 20 square metre unit, we have gradually expanded to being the largest Giant dealer and sole Look and Ridley road bike suppliers for the North East.
We take our jobs very seriously. We’re not like other bike shops – we don’t just sell you a bike and send you on your way. We offer in-depth buying advice and ensure every bicycle we sell is meticulously checked before it leaves the shop. We also offer a full fitting service to ensure your bike fits you, rather than the other way round.
As well as selling bicycles, we take the service and repair side of our business extremely seriously. A badly serviced bicycle is a dangerous bicycle – and one that will not last long. We treat every service individually – there are no “service packages” here – every bike is different, and each service or repair has different requirements. You’ll also notice we don’t sell any bikes or accessories online – we have our own philosophy on how bikes should be sold. It’s a philosophy we stick by, and as such we have a loyal and happy customer following.
We are cycling enthusiasts. From the simplest of jobs, such as a puncture repair, to the most challenging custom road bike builds, we love what we do and it shows.
Our Philosophy There are no budget, supermarket, or toy shop bikes here. We are regularly asked what the cheapest bike we sell is, and all too often customers want a bike for £100 or less. Whilst bikes are available elsewhere at this price point, we don’t recommend anyone buy them. These bikes are inevitably poorly constructed, use sub-standard components, and usually arrive in a box requiring home assembly. The knock on effect is the bike never really works properly and can be extremely dangerous. All too often, customers bring in these budget bikes and ask us to make them work, with the simple answer being, we can’t.
All our bikes are sourced from reputable, well known, quality manufacturers such as Giant, Look and Ridley. They are assembled in store, checked, test ridden and checked again, to ensure they are safe and ready to ride. Even our entry level bikes receive the same attention to detail as our £10,000 time trial bikes. This means your bike is safe, goes well, fits you properly, and will inevitably make you a happier cyclist.
We also don’t sell bikes online. We don’t believe bikes should be sold over the Internet – we believe a bike should be test ridden and made to fit the end user. It also means the bike can come back to us in the unlikely event of a problem, and we also give the bike a free first service.
