All new Cycling Website for Northumberland National Park and Beyond!
Supported by SDF, NNPA, and Visit Northumberland, www.cyclepad.org.uk is the all new social enterprise set up to coordinate the cycling offer in the area. The Cycle PaD (Portal and Directory) is a one-stop-shop for cycling where existing cycling information is centralised, and new cycling offers are added or created and then featured.
Run as a not-for-profit business, with a firm commercial base for sustainability, The Cycle PaD is an information resource to assist any group, individual, business or public body to get the very best out of cycling.
Graham Vickers, one of the directors of The Cycle PaD said ‘the SDF award allowed us to take ‘The Cycle PaD’ from a concept to a real entity. We are just beginning to develop The Cycle PaD, and will be re-investing into phase 2 of the website in 2013. Over the years many of us, in particular Ted Liddle of CycleTRAX, have been trying to coordinate the fragmented offer of cycling in our region. We believe that The Cycle PaD will do this and also stimulate other initiatives. Northumberland is a sleeping giant for cycle tourism, and we aim to emulate the way that successful cycle destinations such as Switzerland and Spain showcase cycling to achieve social, economic and health benefits’.
Launching on the 1st March to coincide with the NNPA’s Visitor Guide, The Cycle PaD will initially feature content within the NNPA area, but will grow to cover all of Northumberland during 2013 with a full launch in September to lead into the county’s ‘Northumberland: Our Active Spirit’ national marketing campaign in 2014. The Cycle PaD is keen to develop partnerships to grow the site and join in the journey of Everything Cycling!
